Pink Skirts and Pink Stripes

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the long delay in posts. Its been a while and an incredibly busy month. Full or change and some exciting news (If you are following on Facebook & Instagram you will already know, but there will be a post coming soon about my big plans!) I've been moving and have realized that I have too much stuff, and it needs to be slimmed down. I'm approaching life with a minimalist attitude and it really makes me question why I have so much stuff that collects mountains of dust. Yeah, it's not helping my allergies either.

Come Saturday I'll be leaving my apartment, and it's been a great 4 years there! It will be greatly missed, but for my next adventure it sadly cannot come with me. Since the move it almost done this means time for more posts! YAY!

It's already the end of August. Where did the summer go? Yesterday was a cool and rainy day so I thought I would post something fall-esq to inspire a flirty attitude as we go into colder temperatures. The location is a favourite of mine in the city, and was originally known as "Beaulieu", the French meaning "beautiful place" those who recognize it will know it as Lougheed House. My thought was that the pink of the boiled wool skirt, very warm by the way, would balance the long trench and add some colour to an otherwise muted pallet. I really like neutrals and black & white, but adding colour cheers a person up when you realize summer is coming to an end.

Pale Blue + Stripes + School Steps

It was a gorgeous day on Tuesday so I decided to take some photos outside of Hillhurst School. It's only a few blocks away from my apartment and the building has so much character. If only all schools could look like this still.

Continuing my love of pale blue is this crop air knit tee from Pink Tartan that has the feeling of scuba material like what you might have seen in skirts the past few seasons. It has great structure and stretch for comfort. I've paired it with my favourite skirt and shoes from Zara. Those shoes have been worn to so many events lately and I've only had them for a month!

p.s. the Pink Tartan top is part of the Washable Collection so no need for dry cleaning!

A Different Holiday Party: Grey + Black + Jewels

This year I'm trying to put a different spin on the usual pretty holiday outfit. I imagine wearing the above at a party and having fun with the full skirt and jeweled necklace. It can also be worn during the day, but I think the necklace give it a little something and I just cannot bring myself to purchase another party dress that is going to be worn once or twice. This year I'm going to try and use my existing wardrobe and add accessories to make it more festive. Plus, sweatshirts and bold jewelry is in so why not take advantage of the comfy trend!

Winter Collaborations

Prior to the release of the Isabel Marant x H&M launch I received this scarf in the mail along with a great tote bag. I unfortunately didn't make it for the early Thursday launch and my budget is tight with Christmas shopping and vacation saving so it was a good thing for my budget and beauty sleep. I am totally loving the scarf as it has bits of blue and purple/mauve and those colours seem to be working well with my Adidas snow boots and new H&M navy coat.

H&M Chinook Flagship

It's not like I need another excuse to shop but the store are increasingly getting better at Chinook Centre. It has always been my go to mall and has the greatest selection of stores but having all my favorites under one roof is going to make it much easier to shop, and much worse for my savings. my top 3 stores Zara, H&M, and Topshop (coming Nov 2) obviously are now a trifecta in the open court across from The Bay. A shoppers dream of cost conscious fashion. The grand opening for H&M was this Thursday taking over the old Jacob space and filling it to the brim with stylish goodies. The re-purposing of the huge 40 foot wall and addition of a skylight really utilized the space well.
It was actually a bit overwhelming trying to shop the morning of the opening as there was already a line up of shoppers at 9:30 for the opening at 12. Its a big deal when the first 300 shoppers can get up to $300 off their purchase.

The layout is good and every corner was stuffed with clothes and accessories. The main floor is women's and accessories and the second floor is the younger brand along with children and menswear. I often feel like i'm suffering from ADD when looking through these mega stores because there are way too many good things too look at and buy. They even have face masks! what?

Those of you following the next designer collaboration will be happy or sad, depending on your location as this flagship will try not to take away from the downtown location so the Isabel Marant collection will still only be available downtown Nov 14th.
Happy Shopping!
