Pale Blue + Stripes + School Steps

It was a gorgeous day on Tuesday so I decided to take some photos outside of Hillhurst School. It's only a few blocks away from my apartment and the building has so much character. If only all schools could look like this still.

Continuing my love of pale blue is this crop air knit tee from Pink Tartan that has the feeling of scuba material like what you might have seen in skirts the past few seasons. It has great structure and stretch for comfort. I've paired it with my favourite skirt and shoes from Zara. Those shoes have been worn to so many events lately and I've only had them for a month!

Sequin Jacket: Kate Moss x Topshop

This post is kind of a celebration of the snap of warmth we have finally been having and when wearing open back dresses are appropriate. Took a few snaps in Riley Park and being silly in my new Kate Moss x Topshop sequin jacket. I've already worn it twice, once to work and once to a charity event last week. The collection came out April 30th. If you're lucky there may be some pieces still available in store and online. I looked through the entire collection before the media pre-shop so I could get this jacket since each store only carries one of each size and Calgary only has 1 Topshop, it was a must have!

This is the second and the final collection Kate Moss will be doing for Topshop, and the pieces are simply amazing and incredibly detailed. So better act quick and get a piece of history!

New Balance 420

The era of comfortable and stylish footwear is here. While looking through other blogs and street style photos the number of flat shoes is climbing. Not to say the number of women teetering on stilettos will ever decrease but women seem to be finding stylish and comfortable shoes to wear in any situation now a days. I'm not tall, 5'3 is very not tall and for the longest time I have thought that anyone under 5'4 needs a boost and should wear a little heel. But maybe with age comes not caring about what others think and if feeling good in a pair of stylish sneakers or flat ankle boots is how I'm feeling that day then that is exactly what I'm going to wear!

I have fallen in love with looks like this and this so thus began my search for black or burgundy New Balance sneakers. It was a hard search as every online store was sold out in my size or only had bright colour combos. luckily my local consignment store had a brand new pair in my size and in the perfect black/grey combo! so my comfortable/stylish shoe dreams have been fulfilled and just in time for Tuesdays +20 weather jump. Sorry for the dirty patio. These have been the first few days of good weather and the patio has finally defrosted, so i'll be cleaning it very shortly.

Winter Collaborations

Prior to the release of the Isabel Marant x H&M launch I received this scarf in the mail along with a great tote bag. I unfortunately didn't make it for the early Thursday launch and my budget is tight with Christmas shopping and vacation saving so it was a good thing for my budget and beauty sleep. I am totally loving the scarf as it has bits of blue and purple/mauve and those colours seem to be working well with my Adidas snow boots and new H&M navy coat.

Siting Still

It was truly cold winter day when these photos were taken last week. It's a good thing we quickly took the outdoor shots and both agreed that the above should be done in some warmth. We are without a doubt going through a cold snap here in Canada and I am overjoyed with the promise of Christmas baking and crafting.. not so excited about frozen toes but there's no use in complaining.

Video Interview: Tom Mora Head of Womenswear Design @JCrew

This week has been the craziest and most devastating for my family, friends, and many communities in Calgary and most of all my home town of High River. The sheer chaos of the flood water has left thousands displaced and an entire town wondering 'when can we go home? and can we rebuild?' Currently my parents are staying with me, more like trapped in limbo. Trying to comprehend the damage to their business, home, and multiple vehicles. Though many things lost were only material the business was their source of income and the home contained many irreplaceable items that are truly missed. I am so grateful for the many people taking care of our city and making it a safe place for people to go home. It makes me appreciate Calgary seeing all the people volunteer and band together in this time of destruction. Rather then cowering away in fear hoping it will pass. This is not something that will pass easily for those affected so all the help and care people are giving is a relief and gives me hope that in time we will be complete again.

Can’t repeat the past?…Why of course you can!

Friday May 10th, the night that the past repeats itself with the opening of The Great Gatsby. The new adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's seminal novel directed by Baz Luhrmann. The only question is will it be a worthy companion to the novel? I will be able to tell later in the week when I finally see it in theaters. Last night I did get to enjoy an amazing evening in The Oak Room at the Fairmont Palliser. Decorated with Gatsby themes and stuffed with bottles of Moët Champagne one could easily be transported back to the twenties until you accidentally peeked out the window into modern times. It was a time capsule for the night. The crowed dressed in jewels, feathers, stockings, bow ties, while the men got a generous shoe shine. It was a truly fantastic step into the past with a

Charleston dance!
