She Wears A Crown For No Country

This shoot was pretty much part 2 of the Red Balloon photos to highlight the Flower Crown DIY and to have some fun with the cute Forever21 pearl cat ear headband that I got a few months back.

Can’t repeat the past?…Why of course you can!

Friday May 10th, the night that the past repeats itself with the opening of The Great Gatsby. The new adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's seminal novel directed by Baz Luhrmann. The only question is will it be a worthy companion to the novel? I will be able to tell later in the week when I finally see it in theaters. Last night I did get to enjoy an amazing evening in The Oak Room at the Fairmont Palliser. Decorated with Gatsby themes and stuffed with bottles of Moët Champagne one could easily be transported back to the twenties until you accidentally peeked out the window into modern times. It was a time capsule for the night. The crowed dressed in jewels, feathers, stockings, bow ties, while the men got a generous shoe shine. It was a truly fantastic step into the past with a
Charleston dance!

Check back as I will have a mini video in much higher quality for you lovely readers!!

Whisked Away to Polar Bear Land

Last Thursday night I went on behalf of Calgary Fashion and was surprised by Chinook Centre along with a whole collection of local bloggers, writers, and media with a night out to see the new polar bears being installed in the North end of the new expansion. We oohed and awed at the cute sculptures crafted by Heavy Industries. We also enjoyed some delicious food and drinks at the winter oasis they created for us at the back of the building that included a real 'ice' bar and comfy chaise loungers with blankets and heat lamps to keep us cozy.
It was a great night spent chatting with some new and old friends in the blogging community. Some people to follow and read are: Kd at The Girl with the Messy Hair; Misty at Misty Hamel ; Anneke at Anneke Forbes; Kait at Yuppie Love; Irene at Calgary is Awesome; Ryan at I'm Mr. Fabulous; Vincent at Binzento Vincente; Rupi at The Diva Lounge; Ania at Ania B
The ice bar was nice and served up a fun themed alcoholic hot chocolate that was delicious with a hint of mint which is my favorite combination. Chocolate + mint! yum.

Winter Furr

This beautiful vintage mink collar was picked up this weekend in High River at the consignment/vintage store Vespucci's which I worked at many summers ago. I still love the place! it's  stuffed with clothes on one side and antiques on other. They also have a second floor filled with tons of nic-nacs and some vintage clothing. I'm looking forward to wearing this with my winter coat or with cozy sweaters for some extra winter glam!
Here's a look at the main floor of the antiques side! It's also in an amazing historic building.
