Eileen Fisher Media Opening

I was at the media breakfast for a brand that I've known for cozy sweaters and timeless basics, Eileen Fisher. At its first Calgary location in Chinook Centre and It has already been open for a month but its official opening was on September 21st. What I also learned was that they are a brand built on an ethical and environmental foundation. Where all their silks are coloured with no chemical dyes and cotton is grown without pesticides. The breakfast was really informative as it was stylish. It was also the day after my new hair cut, what you do think? my ends were really getting dry and my new cut gives me some much needed volume. My favorite items were the metallic coated sweaters. I'm always looking to stock up for the long cold winters, and what could be better then sipping hot chocolate watching a movie and wearing some comfy sweaters? All while it's blizzarding outside.
Photo above was taken by Jess Bobyn and is posted on Annekefobes.com, she has an amazing site so go check it out! And yes you guessed it! that's the bag I snagged from Target in the early am hours of the Phillip Lim x Target launch. It was sheer luck letting that purse and i'll be using it till it falls apart!

Dinner Party DIY

This past Saturday I threw what was supposed to be a summer BBQ, but due to some paranoia and constant checking of the weather network I was lead to believe that sever thunder showers would ruin the event. After much thought and the building manager confirming that the BBQ's in the outdoor area had the gas lines shut.. it was decided. Time to change it to a dinner party and gather some pretty things for the table that would make up for the lack of grilled meats.
This is just a quick post for inspiration for your next party. I've always got a stash of vases, teak nic-nacs and a secret hoard of laterns so it was easy gather a bunch together on some cheap restaurant linens from Value Village and top it with a vintage lace accent. Over all it worked and created an eclectic table setting that was perfectly in tune with my personality.

Bowls: Anthropologie, Value Village, Target // Teak serving plate: Goodwill // Milk glass vases: Value village // Lanterns: Ikea, Dollarama, vintage // Glassware: Winners

Right On Target

It has officially been one week since the opening of 3 Target locations in our city (Market Mall, Chinook Centre, and Forest Lawn) and Shawnessy opened today. So what do you think? I can tell you what I think! The essence is there and so are some of the low prices, you can snag some cute summer dresses from 19.99-29.99 and get a stylish pair of sandals for 24.99. I visited the Market Mall and Chinook locations to see if there would be any difference in product depending on location, there was not much difference, and layout was about the same. I was not a fan of the rather small grocery section being located on the second floor. It felt awkward and as if they didn't even want it. But considering my last trip to Montana my choice buys from Target have always been housewares, clothing, and shoes. So I can live without it... unless they bring in Fruity Pebbles then I'd be all over those! Considering the exchange rate of the Canadian dollar I expected some prices to be lower and more competitive. Comparing prices in my head, electronics and entertainment are on par with prices at Wal-Mart and Best Buy. So expect to get some more interesting products like the Nate Berkus collection, Sam & Libby, C9 by Champion to name a few, but not the wow of some prices when you head to Montana.

A few favorite item spotted at Target:

Romper: 24.99 / Bath Towel: 12.99 / Eiffel Tower Lamp: 39.99 / Vanilla Bean Candle: 7.79 / Sandals: 24.99 / Rechargeable Speaker: 59.99

Prabal Gurung x Target 2013

Prabal Gurung is not a label that you could ever call affordable. Far from it, really. Having only launched under his own own name early in 2009, but with the credentials to support it being the previous design director at Bill Blass interning at Donna Karen etc..., he has become a design phenomenon. When I started to hear whispers and then full articles for the collection for Target I was both excited and hesitant. I was less than impressed with the Rodate collection from 2009 so it was with a ton of hope that this collection would make me want to drive to the closest Target (Which is far!) and get some amazing pieces!

Today I was finally able to look through the entire collection and needless to say it was impressive! there are so many amazing pieces and I would kill to get my hands on a pair of the neon stilettos. Very Celine and at 39.99, CRAZY!

The collection will be available February 10

Without further adieu my thoughts are simply; it's floral, it's electric, and for spring it would be divine!

Short sleeve dress in First Date print, $39.99
